Gymnasts set new season best
The Alexandria gymnastics team finished with its best team score of the season in a competition victory over St. Cloud Apollo last Thursday.
Alexandria won the contest with 140.15 team points to Apollo’s 135.275. Once again, Hannah Wendel led the Cardinals with a first place finish in three events and first place in the all-around.
Wendel scored 37.7 in the all-around while Bria Schueler also took fourth with a 34.125. Wendel’s top finish included a first place in the vault with a 9.65, first on the bars with an 8.95 and first on the floor routine with a 9.65.
Tahlia Bowden also had a solid meet for the Cardinals, finishing first on the beam with a 9.75 and twice in second with a 9.525 on the vault and an 8.75 on the bars.
Schueler also had three top five finishes in the contest. She took fourth on the bars with an 8.2, third on the beam with an 8.55 and fifth on the floor with an 8.725.
