Guitar trios to perform at next Central Lakes concert
The next performance of the Central Lakes Concert Association’s 2013-2014 series will be a performance by the California Guitar Trio (CGT) and Montreal Guitar Trio (MG3).
The concert will take place on Sunday, March 16 at 3 p.m. at the Jefferson High School auditorium in Alexandria. The doors open 45 minutes prior to the show.
Both based in North America, CGT and MG3 will play as one sextet and as individual trios throughout the program.
Together, these two trios have more than 40 years of performing experience. Both have performed around the world and won many awards in musical performance and recordings.
CGT has released 14 CDs since 1991 and plays on steel string guitars. MG3 has released five CDs in its 14 year history, and they play on nylon string guitars.
Inspired in 2010 by an impromptu studio session together in Montreal, CGT and MG3 released a live recording in 2011, and they sustain frequent co-bill touring throughout North America. This appearance in Alexandria is part of a 10-concert tour of the Midwest.
Program highlights will include classical music such as Toccata and Fugue in D minor by Bach, William Tell Overture by Rossini and Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven, several original compositions, and more.
Admission is by season membership only. Season memberships may be purchased at the doors. To purchase season memberships in advance, contact Jan Johnson at (320) 762-1350, Bernita Darveaux at (320) 763-6248 or Bev Peterson in Elbow Lake at (218) 685-4667.
