GreenLeaf Learning Studio to open in Alexandria
Susan Flynn, certified teacher and experienced elementary and middle school teacher, is opening GreenLeaf Learning Studio, a local alternative for academic coaching for students and their families, kindergarten through 12. A May 19 opening is planned.
Flynn brings 25 years of teaching experience in the classroom, and with small groups as a Title One teacher and Learning resource teacher. She has taught students in both private and public school settings, in grades K-8.
Flynn is trained in reading interventions (Leveled Literacy Intervention and Early Intervention in Reading), has coached Destination Imagination, coordinated science and inventors fairs and all-school talent shows. She enjoys helping students reach their potential as learners and has spent the past eight years tutoring students in her home.
She received her bachelor of arts degree in elementary education from the College of St. Benedict, and her middle school endorsement as well as her master of science in middle school curriculum and instruction from St. Cloud State University.
GreenLeaf Learning Studio's mission is to provide affordable supplemental education service for families wanting to have their child receive academic coaching in grades K-12. Certified teachers and college math tutors design an individualized tutoring plan (ITP) for each learner that includes best practice strategies that reinforce skills and scaffold students' learning to higher levels.
Each ITP is based on formal and informal assessments, and parent and student input. The number of academic coaching sessions varies based on each learner's ITP. GreenLeaf's personalized approach is provided in a warm, caring and nurturing learning environment where the goal is to help learners become stronger, confident learners.
