The Green Lake Bluegrass Band to perform free concert Thursday
The Green Lake Bluegrass Band will perform at the Red Willow Arts Coalition free concert on Thursday, August 1 at 7 p.m. on the lawn at the Douglas County Courthouse in Alexandria.
The band got its start about 15 years ago playing at a local Lutheran bible camp where some of the members were on staff. It started with three members and has grown to five.
The band's musical styles have grown as well. Now, in addition to bluegrass tunes, the band also dabbles in gospel, folk and Irish music.
Band members include Dave Eliason, banjo, guitar and vocals; Bill Gossman, harmonica, jaw harp, Irish whistle and vocals; Brian Jensen, bass and vocals; Jerry Saetveit, fiddle, Irish whistle and vocals; and Bob Whitney, guitar, fiddle and vocals.
Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. In the event of inclement weather, listen to KXRA 1490 AM for cancellation information.
The Red Willow Arts Coalition is a nonprofit organization with a mission to provide the community with access to more musical experiences.
