'Go Fish' - Dove Award nominees bring kid-friendly Christian music concert to Alexandria
"Go Fish," the Dove Award-nominated Christian vocal and percussion group, will be in concert this Sunday in Alexandria.
The concert is set for 4:30 p.m. September 19 at Lake Geneva Christian Center, 605 Birch Avenue, in Alexandria.
The concert is free, although a free-will offering will be accepted. Donations will benefit the Alexandria Jaycees' Jingle Bells program.
Following the concert, from 6 to 7 p.m., concertgoers can also enjoy a meal at Lake Geneva Christian Center for a minimal cost. Reservations for the meal must be received by September 17. To order post-concert meal tickets, go to www.gofishsupper.eventbrite.com.
Following a string of successful independent recordings and two projects with the "inpop" label, Go Fish focused its energy on creating music for kids and families, releasing Splash in 2003, followed by Superstar in 2004, Snooze in 2006 and the Showtime DVD in 2006. The group is now adding their second Christmas recording, Snow, to their impressive line-up.
Citing research that emphasizes that most Christians come to faith before the age of 14, Andy Selness, a member of the group, said the mission of Go Fish is to make an impact on the lives of children and their parents.
"We're targeting the kids because they are the next generation of influential people," he said.
Making kids' and parents' days is what Go Fish is all about. Great harmonies, direct lyrics, inspiring messages - rolled up into a dynamic presentation that is making an impact and creating memories for countless families across the country.
Go Fish concert sponsors include Thrivent Financial, Quick Attach, Karrow Jewelers, Anderson Funeral Home, Advantage Rehab, Glenwood State Bank, Billmark's Lakes Area Insurance, Viking Savings Association, Zion Lutheran School and Creative Impact Design.
