Give your old books a new life this Arbor Day

Books are special. No one wants to throw them away and recycling options can be hard to find. This Earth Day, Pope/Douglas Solid Waste Management (PDSWM) is hosting Books for Earth, a free book collection event to provide a new life for your old books.

Books for Earth will take place on Friday, April 27 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, April 28 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the PDSWM Recycling Center located at 2115 Jefferson Street in Alexandria. Books accepted for collection must be gently used and free of mold.

All books collected at the event will be reused or recycled into a new product by Better World Books, Books for Africa, and Thrifty Books. Books for Earth is sponsored by the Minnesota Resource Recovery Association and Pope/Douglas Solid Waste Management. Book collection services are provided by the NetWork for Better Futures.
