Girls soccer wins sixth straight

The Alexandria girls soccer team scored a season high seven goals in an away match at Willmar on Thursday.

The win was the sixth in a row for the Cardinals. They are now 6-1-0 and undefeated in conference play.

The Cardinals started off slow in the game, with their only goal in the first half coming from Haley Burns and assisted by Karsen Granning.

But an improved offensive attack in the second half helped the Cardinals score six more times. Burns scored two more goals, Anna Spanbauer scored two goals with an assist, Karsen Granning scored a goal and Kaila Dewanz scored a goal. Chelsea Salto was credited with two assists, and Anna Lee and Emily Korkowski each earned one assist in the second-half offense.

Goalkeeper Sarah Bruzek had five saves on seven shots for the Cardinals.
