Osakis girls' basketball coach Pat Kalpin felt good about an experienced roster coming into the season. Through three games, that confidence seems to be justified.

The Silverstreaks improved to 3-0 on the season with a dominant 69-39 win over Swanville. Osakis jumped out to a 14-1 lead that turned into a 43-18 advantage at the break.

"The girls defended pretty well," Kalpin said. "But I was most impressed with our offensive effort tonight. I felt that we were able to take advantage of some nice transition buckets, especially in the first half. We were also able to get some real good looks in our half-court offense."

The Silverstreaks got contributions from all over the court. Ten players scored on a night when they shot 50 percent from the field (30-60). Brooke Sorenson led the way with 11 to go along with six assists, two blocks and four steals. Annalise Savageau and Madison Forsell added 10 points apiece, while Tayler Waldvogel and Becka Sadlemyer each finished with eight.

That balanced scoring was a testament to how well Osakis shared the ball. The Silverstreaks had 23 assists on their 30 made field goals. That is compared to just 10 turnovers.

"That tells the coaching staff that we are sharing the ball," Kalpin said. "We still need to continue to get better at different parts of the game, but at this point in the season, that's to be expected. Individually, Brooke Sorenson, Madi Forsell and Tayler Waldvogel played their best games to date. All three shot the ball well and overall had great floor games for us."

Osakis has two more home games in what is a stretch of five straight at home to start the season. Royalton will come to town tonight, Friday, before the Silverstreaks welcome in a 3-0 Albany team next Tuesday for a great early-season test.
