Girls' basketball: Area players on All-State team
The Alexandria area is home to a lot of strong girls' basketball players and many of those were honored when the Minnesota Girls' Basketball Coaches Association all-state teams were announced after the season.
Alexandria's Lauren Trumm was named to the Class AAA team. The senior guard controlled games on both ends of the court, averaging 22.4 points per game and an incredible 5.8 steals. Also getting that recognition from Section 8AAA was Mariah Monke of Fergus Falls.
Brandon-Evansville's Heather Strese and Parkers Prairie's Micaela Noga were named to the Class A team. The Panthers' Madison Dorn was also an honorable-mention selection.
Those three were the top three scorers in the Little Eight Conference this past season. Strese averaged a double-double with 21.6 points and 11.6 rebounds per game in LEC play. Noga averaged 21.3 points and Dorn 20.3 on their way to leading Parkers Prairie to a LEC title.
