The Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin Lakes and Pines held its annual meeting and recognition celebration recently.

Approximately 225 people attended the event. A portion of the event was dedicated to electing new board members, discussing council issues, and voting on new proposals.

Stacey Lhotka of Alexandria was appointed as member at large for 2010-2011. Lhotka has worked in the human resources field for the last 14 years. For more than 10 years, she served as the director of human resources for Alexandria Clinic, P.A.

Lhotka holds a bachelor of science degree from North Dakota State University in business administration and received her professional in human resources (PHR) certification in 2009.

Christina Weisel, also of Alexandria, was appointed as Senior/Ambassador Girl Scout for 2010-2011.

Weisel is a ninth grader at Discovery Middle School. She began Girl Scouts when she was in kindergarten and just completed her Girl Scout Silver Award.

For her project, her troop formed a summer book club for girls in first and second grade. This program encouraged young girls to continue reading over their school break and allowed for tutoring and discussion.

Weisel also attended Girl Scout program aide training at Shingobee Timbers Camp and helped at Parkers Prairie Girl Scouts Day Camp.
