'Genesis' is theme of family camp
The public is invited to attend a week of family camp on Genesis: Great Stories of Faith, featuring theologians and teachers Chris Crogan and Steve Paulson, Saturday through Friday, July 20-26 at Mount Carmel Ministries in Alexandria.
Worship on Monday, July 22 at 7 p.m. will feature Paul Oman, painter and pastor, creating one of his murals.
A typical camp day begins at 9 a.m. and includes various activities, meals, free time and seminars. The daily rate is $25 or the full week is $100, lunch included.
Crogan and Paulson will cover stories such as creation, the Fall, the promise to Abraham, the sacrifice of Isaac, Jacob and Esau, and Joseph and his brothers.
Crogan served as a parish pastor in southeastern Minnesota prior to receiving a Ph.D. degree in church history from Luther Seminary in St. Paul.
In 2004, he joined Augustana College's religion department and is currently the director of the Luther House of Study at Augustana College and Sioux Falls Seminary. His area of study is in church history with an emphasis on the Reformation, in particular the Lutheran tradition.
Paulson is a professor of systematic theology at Luther Seminary. Before his time at Luther, he taught at Concordia Seminary, Moorhead and pastored in Washington Island, Wisconsin.
Crogan and Paulson have become regular team teachers at Mount Carmel, both for pastors seeking continuing education as well as laity who are interested in in-depth Biblical and theological study.
