Galeon celebrates 50th anniversary with two events
On June 9, 1963, Community Memorial Home at Osakis opened. Over the last 50 years, the facility has expanded to a campus that includes Manor Apartments, Community Memorial Home Terrace Heights, West View and BridgeWell.
To celebrate the facility's 50th anniversary and years of growth, there are two celebrations planned: an art auction on May 4 and an open house on June 9.
ART AUCTION AND GALA
To kick off its 50th anniversary celebration, Galeon will host an Art Auction and Gala on Saturday, May 4 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Club Galeon Wellness Center.
"We're planning a really fun evening with music and drawings," said Galeon Administrator Dave Carlson. "The evening will culminate in a live auction of the prints that Community Memorial Home has accumulated over the years."
The goal is to raise $5,000 to purchase a recumbent stepper machine.
OPEN HOUSE CELEBRATION
In recognition of the day Community Memorial Home opened 50 years ago, an open house celebration is set for Sunday, June 9 from 2 to 4 p.m.
The Galeon board and community dignitaries will be present and the community is invited to take part.
