A funeral celebrant is an individual, clergy or funeral director who has been trained in the specific area of conducting funerals for families who wish to have a personalized and individualized funeral service experience.

Our society has become much more mobile and diverse, not only in the form of beliefs and customs but also relating to one’s spirituality and the individual’s desire for a more personalized, one-of-a-kind celebration of life.

Andrew Yaggie, funeral director at Erickson-Smith Funeral Home, said, “We value the beliefs, customs and personal touches families wish to incorporate into a service for their loved one, and a certified funeral celebrant gives that memorable option to families.

“We’re glad to have Gwen as our partner in providing this option to families. We’re also pleased to be the only funeral home in the area to offer the services of three certified funeral celebrants,” he said.
