The Alexandria swimming and diving team needed a win in the final race, and the relay team of Megan Bristow, Macy Hatlestad, Kate LeBrasseur and Madalyn Winger got the job done. The Cardinals won the meet with 98.5 points, while Sauk Rapids-Rice finished with 87.5.

“As it turned out, the contest featured two fairly evenly matched squads,” head coach Mark Storhaug said.

Winger and Hannah Eklund both led the way for the Cardinals by picking up two individual wins in the meet. Winger took first place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:07.92 and in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:44.10. Eklund took first in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:26.25 and in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:12.40.

Bailey Serum also picked up a win for the Cardinals in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:08.65.

The Cardinals recorded 12 season bests in the race, including two from Bristow. Abi Eck improved by more than a second in the 100-yard breaststroke, as did Serum in the 100-yard backstroke.
