Free seminar on long term care preparation
The SCAN Foundation on the State of Long-Term Care Financing states that 70 percent of Americans who reach age 65 will eventually need long-term care. Many individuals have not made plans regarding long-term care needs or are aware of the resources available to them to aid in that planning.
A free educational seminar entitled “Long-Term Care and Estate Planning: A Gift Your Family Deserves” will be held Tuesday, December 3 at 6 p.m. at Grand Arbor in Alexandria.
Local attorney Benjamin Head and Thrivent Financial long-term care specialist Dean Newhart will discuss information related to long-term care issues.
These issues include how to plan for long-term care, emotionally, physically and financially, as well as Medical Assistance eligibility, health care directives and Provider Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment (POLST).
Newhart is a 20-plus year financial services expert specializing in long-term care at Thrivent Financial. His background includes serving as regional vice president for Manulife Wood Logan and MetLife Investors.
Prior to joining Thrivent, he most recently worked to assist advisors with case design and advanced insurance planning strategies. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in finance from Minnesota State University Moorhead.
This is the fourth seminar in an ongoing series hosted by Thrivent Financial and Knute Nelson.
There is no cost to attend; however, RSVPs are appreciated due to limited space. Desserts and refreshments will be provided. To RSVP for these seminars, call Grand Arbor at (320) 763-1600.
