Through District 206 Community Education, the Alexandria Area Adult Basic Education (ABE) Consortium is partnering with Alexandria Technical and Community College (ATCC) to offer a free healthcare prep course at ATCC this summer. The healthcare prep course will be held at ATCC on Mondays and Wednesdays beginning June 11 and ending August 8. Course hours are 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The healthcare prep curriculum, jointly developed by ATCC and ABE, is designed for individuals who are considering careers in healthcare. The course will help students develop the skills and knowledge essential to succeed in the collegiate academic setting.

The curriculum includes math, study skills, reading, writing, job shadowing, medical terminology, basic nursing skills, as well as information on other healthcare career options. This is an ideal class for someone planning to pursue further education in a healthcare field. The program builds the academic, technical and soft skills of the participants so they will be better prepared to take college coursework and be better equipped healthcare employees.

To register or for information, contact Carolyn Elliasen, Alexandria ABE, at (320) 762-3312, extension 1 or e-mail celliase@alexandria.k12.mn.us.
