Free health care prep class offered

Alexandria Area Adult Basic Education (ABE) is partnering with Alexandria Technical and Community College (ATCC) to offer a free health care prep course this summer.

The course is meant to be a bridge transition course from either work or high school graduation into college-ready students. It will include math, study skills, reading, writing, job shadowing, medical terminology and an overview of health care fields. This is an ideal course for someone planning to further their education in the health care field.

Since the program builds on academic, technical and soft skills of the participants, those who complete the class will not only be better prepared for college coursework, but they will also be better equipped health care employees.

The class will run for nine weeks, June 3 to July 21. It will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at ATCC. It is limited to 20 participants.

To register or for more information, contact Carolyn Elliasen, Alexandria ABE, at (320) 762-3312, extension 1, or celliase@alexandria.k12.mn.us.
