The victory advanced Osakis to the District 7 championship game Saturday to face the winner of a match-up between Madison and New London-Spicer. Osakis has now defeated both teams in the district tournament.

Frederick pitched seven innings, allowing only one hit and one walk with seven strikeouts. Drew Fearing led the Osakis offense by picking up two hits and scoring two runs.

With most of the offense coming from the top of the order on Thursday, head coach Shad Schmidt said he would like to see more production from the bottom of the order.

“Offensively we have to get all nine guys going,” he said. “We cannot rely on our pitchers and the top four hitters to win games for us each night.”

Frederick also scored the other Osakis run in the game on an error by the New London-Spicer pitcher in the fifth inning. Ky Zimmel picked up the only Osakis RBI on the night on a first inning single, scoring Fearing.

A 3-0 lead was more than enough for Frederick, as New London-Spicer only had three runners reach base all night.
