Franson introduces bipartisan legislation
Representative Mary Franson (R-Alexandria) introduced bipartisan legislation that would prohibit employers from demanding social media passwords from employees as a condition of employment.
The legislation, House File 293, is co-authored by Representatives Tina Liebling, Mary Liz Holberg, Marion O'Neill, Ben Lien, Jim Newberger, Andrea Kieffer and Joe Radinovich.
"Employers certainly have a right to know about those seeking to work for them, but should not be able to invade the privacy of employees and job applicants," said Franson.
Franson's legislation has been referred to the Labor, Workforce and Regulated Industries Committee, where it is waiting for a hearing.
