A semi-truck and trailer driven by Michael Rosen, 45, of Benson was stopped at the stop lights in the south-bound lane. Two vehicles, a Chevy Corvette driven by Brian Alvstad, 26, of Alexandria and a Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Ryan Carlson, 28, of Alexandria, collided while attempting to turn west on Highway 27, according to the Alexandria Police Department.

After the initial collision, the Corvette veered and struck the semi-truck in the fuel tank, puncturing the tank.

The Corvette was stuck under the semi and had to be removed with the assistance of a tow truck.

The Grand Prix also veered and struck a Chrysler Concorde driven by Deborah Erickson, 57, of Barrett, who was east-bound on County Road 46.

The force of the collision pushed both vehicles off the roadway on the south side of County Road 46.

Erickson and Alvstad were both injured and transported to the Douglas County Hospital Emergency Room where they were treated and released.

Police say statements are still being collected and the case remains under investigation.

Diesel fuel that leaked from the semi-truck's fuel tank was contained and the area was cleaned up, according to police.

The Alexandria Fire Department, Minnesota State Patrol and North Ambulance assisted at the scene.
