Four suspects in Osakis drug bust make court appearances

Four Osakis residents who were arrested and charged with drug crimes related to a drug bust last September have had several court appearances. Here's an update:

• Shaun Dexter Chermak, 29, entered a guilty plea January 5 and sentencing is scheduled for March 23. Chermak was charged with felony-level, 5th degree drug possession crime.

• Kyle Lee Nelson, 20, is scheduled for an omnibus hearing on March 16. Nelson is charged with felony-level, 5th degree drug possession crime.

• Karl Dean Shroyer, 49, has a settlement conference set for March 29. Shroyer is charged with two, felony-level drug crimes - one 3rd degree narcotic sales and one 5th degree possession.

• Brenda Lynn Nelson, 50, has an omnibus hearing set for March 16. Nelson is charged with two, felony-level drug crimes - one 3rd degree narcotic sales and one 5th degree possession.

On September 22, 2011, the West Central Minnesota Narcotics Task Force, Osakis Police Department and Douglas County Sheriff's Office executed a narcotics search warrant at 305 West Main Street in Osakis. Chermak, Kyle Nelson, Brenda Nelson and Shroyer were arrested for alleged possession and sale of methamphetamine.
