Four area athletes medal at state

Four area athletes came away with medals from the Class A state track and field meet held over the weekend at Hamline University in St. Paul.

In the field events, West Central Area’s Dan Schack tied for seventh place in the high jump after clearing a height of 6-00.00. He also competed in the long jump and took seventh place by leaping to a mark of 21-06.75.

WCA’s Kylee Fernholz made an appearance on the podium as she tied for eighth place in the high jump with four athletes that cleared the bar at 5-00.00.

Abby Van Kempen took 13th place for WCA in the 3,200 with a time of 12:15.83.

Minnewaska’s Jack Schultenover took ninth place in the 100 meter dash finals, finishing in a time of 11.62.

Diane Campbell of Ashby-Brandon-Evansville also took eighth place in the discus with a throw of 104-09.
