Former Echo Press reporter writes mystery novel

The book is the first in the series written by Joe Albert, the second is to be released later this year.

Former Alexandria resident and Echo Press reporter Joe Albert recently released a fiction novel called Two Shots.

Set in Bemidji, Albert's first novel features a conservation officer named Tony Leach. The book, a mystery/thriller, takes readers into the investigation of the murder of a noted political operative at a deer-hunting camp in the state's North Woods.

Two Shots is available electronically at for $2.99.

Albert, who worked at the Echo Press from 2002 to 2004, currently is an associate editor at the Minnesota Outdoor News newspaper. He and his family spend summers at their cabin in Alexandria. The second book in the Tony Leach series is due out later this year.
