Former Cardinal is Hall of Famer
Lindsey (Spoden) Vanden Berg was one of three former University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee student-athletes recently inducted into the Bud K. Haidet Athletics Hall of Fame.
Ceremonies were held at the Milwaukee Athletic Club prior to the UW-M men's basketball game against Valparaiso.
Vanden Berg played volleyball at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee from 2000-2003, earning All-Midwest Collegiate Conference and Horizon League honors four times, was an all-region honoree twice and received AVCA All-American honors in 2003. She was the American Volleyball Coaches Association Midwest Region Freshman of the Year and MCC Newcomer of the Year in 2000.
Her Panther team won four regular season titles and played in three NCAA tournaments during her stint at UW-Milwaukee. Her team finished with an 88-32 record in her four seasons.
Graduating in 2004 with a degree in marketing, Vanden Berg has gone on to an extremely successful career as an assistant coach for the Panthers.
She was named Miss Volleyball in Minnesota in 1999 as a senior for the Cardinals as her team went on to a perfect 32-0 season, and won the first ever Class AAA state tournament title. She was also named to the All-State volleyball team that season.
Vanden Berg was also selected as the Minnesota Gatorade Player of the Year in Volleyball in 2000. The award recognized outstanding athletic and academic excellence as well as exemplary character, and made her a finalist for the prestigious Gatorade National Volleyball Player of the Year award.

Former Alexandrian Lindsey Spoden Vanden Berg was AVCA All-American honorable mention in 2003. She was also UW-M Division I League Player of the Year, finishing her career second in assists and fourth in digs, plus grabbing the spot as the UM-W's career service ace leader the same year.
