Former Associated Press editor to address Minnesota immigration
Alexandria Community Education and its partners will host former Associated Press reporter and editor Gregg Aamot coming to Alexandria on Monday, September 24. The presentation, in which he will explore immigration in Minnesota, will take place at Grand Arbor, 4403 Pioneer Road Southeast, in the Community Room at 4:30 p.m.
The discussion is part of the "Everyone Has a Story" series that strives to provide provocative presentations and conversations with scholars, authors and artists.
Since the 1990s, Aamot has covered the immigration experience of the new wave of people from different parts of the world, including Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, Central and Latin America, Mexico and Africa.
Aamot understands the challenges and realities of adapting to life in the Upper Midwest and has written a book, The New Minnesotans: Stories of Immigrants and Refugees.
