First Awake the Grapes runs draw 291

Alexandria's Steven Gromatka and Sarah Johnston were overall winners in their divisions of the first Awake the Grapes 5K, 10K and 1-mile fun run at Carlos Creek Winery.

Gromatka was the top male finisher in the 10K run, finishing in 37:31, while Johnston won the women's 5K division with a time of 22:43.

Winning the women's 10K race was Sabrina Hoppe of West Union in 45:18, while the 5K men's division was won by Darren Larsen of Worthington in 16:29.

A total of 291 runners took part in the three different events, with 63 in the 10K, 158 in the 5K and 70 in the 1-mile fun run.

The Alexandria Figure Skating Club was hosting the event.
