Firefighters from Brandon, Millerville and Leaf Valley battled a house fire in northwest Douglas County Wednesday night.

A neighbor reported the fire at 10939 Burn Road at about 6 p.m. The house is about two and half miles north of the intersection of Chippewa Heights and Shorewood Lane, north of Chippewa Lake.

When Douglas County sheriff's deputies and Millerville firefighters arrived on scene, they found the house engulfed in flames and smoke. The homeowner, Joshua Bunting, was not home at the time the fire was reported, according to the sheriff's office.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. No one was injured and no one was in the house at the time of the fire.

The Millerville Fire Department was assisted by the Brandon Fire Department and the Leaf Valley Fire Department.  Some firefighters remained on the scene until after 9 p.m.
