Fire damages vehicles, garages at Maple Ridge Manor

On Sunday, around 2 p.m., Alexandria Fire Department (AFD) responded to a four-stall garage fire at 310 Unumb Court at Maple Ridge Manor apartments.

When firefighters arrived, the fire had consumed the south end of the garage. One vehicle parked in a garage stall was destroyed and another vehicle parked nearby was damaged. The three other garage stalls all had heat, water or smoke damage; two were unoccupied and a third had personal belongings stored inside.

AFD First Assistant Chief Bill Thoennes said it's likely the fire started in a Dumpster located under an overhang on the south end of the garage. From there, it spread to the garages, Thoennes said.
