A local woman has been convicted more than one year after her involvement in a violent crime. On July 23, Yasmine Angelique Chumley, 21, of Alexandria was convicted of misdemeanor fifth degree assault in Douglas County Court.

Chumley was sentenced to 90 days in jail, which she had already served, and ordered to pay a $50 fine and $135 in court fees. She served a total of 240 days.

Chumley and Mario Dupree Hutchinson, 22, of Alexandria stabbed and beat a woman near a residence on 6th Avenue and Jefferson Street in Alexandria on June 27, 2012. The woman suffered four stab wounds, one which punctured her lung and kidney.

Chumley was originally charged with felony second degree assault with a dangerous weapon inflicting substantial bodily harm, which has a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment and a $20,000 fine; felony second degree assault with a dangerous weapon, which has a maximum sentence of seven years imprisonment and a $14,000 fine; felony second degree aiding and abetting assault with a dangerous weapon inflicting substantial bodily harm, which has a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment and a $20,000 fine; and misdemeanor fifth degree assault with the intention to inflict bodily harm, which has a maximum sentence of 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
