Fergus Falls tops Alexandria boys swim team 103-82

The Alexandria boys' swimming and diving team was unable to keep up with Fergus Falls' top swimmers in a 103-82 home loss on Tuesday evening.

Alexandria managed just three first place finishes from Max Jacobson in the 50 freestyle, Ben Tollefson in the 500 freestyle and Elliot Jacobson in the 100 breaststroke.

Last season the Cardinals swim team was stacked with experienced seniors, but after many of the team's top scorers graduated they have a large group of newcomers competing in the varsity lineup.

"We had 12 seniors, and seven out of our top 10 scorers, leave us," head coach Mark Storhaug said. "That's not good, it's hard to replace that kind of scoring power."

But the swimmers have been working hard to fill the shoes left by outgoing seniors.

"Right away at the beginning of the season we knew that was going to happen and we just knew that we were going to try to fill those shoes the best we can," Elliot Jacobson said. "I think we're making the most of it."
