Fearing, Christianson, Peterson all sign to play college athletics
Alexandria's Amanda Christianson and Zach Peterson, along with Osakis' Drew Fearing all signed National Letters of Intent to play sports at the Division II and Division I collegiate level starting next fall.
Christianson and Peterson both signed with St. Cloud State University. Christianson got a scholarship offer from the Huskies women's basketball team and made a verbal commitment earlier this fall. That story ran in the September 13 issue of the Echo Press. The senior guard averaged 16 points per game in leading the Cardinal girls to the section championship game as a junior last year.
Peterson will play baseball on partial scholarship for SCSU after signing his letter of intent today. The Alexandria shortstop hit .432 with a team-high 24 RBIs for the Cardinals as a junior this past spring. He added nine doubles, a triple, a home run and 10 walks for an on-base percentage of .523. See Peterson's story on signing with the Huskies in Friday's issue of the Echo Press.
Fearing accomplished his dream of signing with a Division I baseball team when he inked with North Dakota State University today on a partial scholarship. The Osakis shortstop hit .473 in 74 at-bats for the Silverstreaks in helping to lead them to the Class A state title game as a junior. Fearing also had eight doubles, four triples, a home run, 35 RBIs and 18 stolen bases. See his full story on committing to NDSU in next Wednesday's issue of the Osakis Review.
