Fear the reaper
There’s a horde of gruesomely ghoulish characters to scare the daylights out of you at the Alexandria Area Arts Association (AAAA) Theatre this Halloween.
The eighth annual Haunted Theatre opened last Friday and two more nights remain — October 30 and 31, from 7 to 10 p.m.
This year’s theme, Reaper Madness, is set against a backdrop of Christmas and other holidays
Here’s the story:
For years, the Reaper, the vengeful spirit of Halloween, has jealously watched the other holidays gain popularity, and it’s time for his revenge.
The Reaper has begun to distort the other holiday icons, slowly turning them evil, in a self-guided haunted attraction that leads attendees through depths of the historic AAAA Theatre.
Viewers can enjoy a disturbing journey alongside the new monsters of the holiday seasons.
“Reaper Madness is a fun and terrifying look at the other holidays, holidays we don’t necessarily perceive as scary,” said Benjamin Klipfel, AAAA executive director. “Guests will wander through the Winter Wonderlands of Christmas, the Lair of the Leprechaun, the Domain of Cupid, as well as many more holidays, eventually ending up in Halloween, the realm of the vindictive Reaper.”
Admission is $5 at the door. Haunted Theatre is an annual fundraiser for the AAAA and features a talented cast of regional actors.
The event, sponsored by XS Consulting of Alexandria, is not recommended for youth younger than 10 years of age, or for the faint of heart.
