Engfer, Brendon Coyer advance to individual quarterfinals

Ryan Engfer and Brendon Coyer both advanced into the Class A quarterfinals Friday morning at the Minnesota State Wrestling Tournament.

Brendon Coyer cruised into the second round at 120 pounds with a 21-5 technical fall late in the match over Cordell Peterson of New Richland-H-E-G. Engfer needed three overtimes, but he was able to pull out a 4-1 victory at 138 pounds over Jake Larkin of WCA thanks to three back points.

Trenton Coyer held a 4-0 lead after the first period, but he was unable to hold on in a 15-9 loss to Esteban Teigen of Spectrum at 113 pounds.

Engfer and Brendon Coyer will wrestle again in the Class A quarterfinals beginning at 4:30 p.m. this afternoon.
