Officers were called to a theft in progress at Walmart at 5:11 p.m. Tuesday.

A suspect, later identified as Dustin Lee Miller, 34, of West Fargo, North Dakota, had allegedly placed $549 worth of electronic items in a cart.

When he was stopped by the store’s loss prevention personnel, Miller dumped the items and fled, said police.

Miller was then picked up by Jeneice Alisha Franklin, 35, of Moorhead, whom police say was waiting for him in the parking lot.

The two fled the area in a Ford Explorer and drove east on Interstate 94. Alexandria police caught up with the vehicle and arrested Miller and Franklin for gross misdemeanor theft.
