"We run this program to help provide much needed educational equipment that goes into the classrooms of our customer's children," said Elliot Christensen of Elden's Food Fair. "Schools, parents and friends save our register tapes and exchange the total value for free teaching tools from a catalog of over 2,000 items. This program is our way of enhancing the education of our youth and thanking our customers for their shopping loyalty."

The program is under way for the 2009-2010 school year and continues through March 2010.

Through the RTFE program during the 2008-2009 school year, area schools earned valuable free educational equipment valued at $14,665.50.

Participating area schools included Brandon High School, Carlos Elementary School, Discovery Middle School, Evansville School, Garfield Elementary School, Jefferson High School, Lincoln Elementary School, Miltona Science Magnet, New Testament Christian School, Parkers Prairie High School, St. Agnes School, St. Mary's School, Voyager Elementary School, Washington Elementary School and Zion Lutheran School.

Elden's Food Fair of Alexandria is an independently owned and operated grocery retailer located at 707 3rd Avenue East, Alexandria.
