Elden's Food Fair helps area schools

Throughout the 2009-2010 school year, Elden's Food Fair has participated in a program called Register Tapes for Education (RTFE) to help raise money to purchase school equipment for area schools.

"We run this program to help provide much needed educational equipment that goes into the classrooms of our customer's children," said Elliot Christensen of Elden's.

"Schools, parents and friends save our register tapes and exchange the total value for free teaching tools from a catalog of more than 2,000 items. This program is our way of enhancing the education of our youth and thanking our customers for their shopping loyalty."

Through the program during the 2009-2010 school year, area schools earned valuable educational equipment valued at $14,072.44.

Participating area schools included Brandon High School, Carlos Elementary School, Discovery Middle School, Evansville School, Garfield Elementary, Jefferson High School, Lincoln Elementary, Miltona Science Magnet, New Testament Christian, Parkers Prairie High School, St. Agnes, St. Mary's, Voyager Elementary, Woodland Elementary and Zion Lutheran School.

Elden's Food Fair of Alexandria is an independently owned and operated grocery retailer located at 707 3rd Avenue East in Alexandria.
