Education commissioner to speak in Alexandria
The Alexandria Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce invites business people and others who are interested to a mini Lunch and Learn session, "Transforming Minnesota's System of Education."
Minnesota Education Commissioner Alice Seagren will lead the session on Friday, February 27 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Alexandria Technical College Room 743A (in the new technology building on the south side of campus). Note: The parking lot south of the technology building is under construction so park in the west lot.
There will be no registration fee for this bonus session. Box lunches, if reserved in advance, are available for $5.
Seagren will visit with Alexandria business and community leaders to discuss the importance of education in building Minnesota's workforce for the 21st century.
She will present Governor Pawlenty's education proposals including the Teacher Transformation Act, pay for performance, Principals Institute, online education, shared services and the Summer of Success.
