Edson Stansfield, 84

Edson Charles Stansfield, 84, died March 2, 2009 at Crestview Manor Nursing Home in Evansville.

Edson was born May 26, 1924 in Blackduck to James L. Stansfield and Edith (Charest) Stansfield. Edson married Gleneitta Henselin. He served his country in the military and after his discharge was employed by Elk River Energy. Gleneitta and Edson lived in the metro area until Edson's retirement, then they built a home on Lake Cowdry. The couple enjoyed the lake life and visiting friends. Gleneitta died July 1, 2008 at Crestview Manor in Evansville, where Edson continued to reside until his death.

Edson is survived by his sister, Helen Foley.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gleneitta; brothers, James, Alan, Lewis, Gerald and Dale.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alexandria with the Rev. Steven Binsfeld, officiating. Thomas Mulder and Laurie Youngers provided the music. Sister Rita Von Holtum performed the committal service at St. Mary's Mausoleum. Serving as pallbearers were Tom Stansfield, Terry Stansfield, Jack Stansfield, John Foley, Dale Foley and Dan Botner. Military honors were performed by Alexandria American Legion Post #87.
