Edith Detviler was born June 17, 1917 in Morris to Lyle and Laura Squier. She passed away Jan. 10, 2009 at her home in Morris. She was one of six children.
She went to country school, was married to Virgil Detviler and moved to Bell Gardens, Calif. in 1939. Her sister, Audrey went to Calif. a few years later.
She and her sister worked at Pacific Press for 26 years. Upon retiring Edith and her sister, Audrey and husband Jack Webb moved back to Morris in 1987. Special friend, Leon Richardson, joined them also.
She loved to dance and entertain, and especially liked to work outside. Her special love was the animals, having moved her with two poodles and a calico cat.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Laura Squier, brothers Jack Squier, Richard Squier (Rose), sisters Janet (Jim) Stevenson, Shirley (Thebias) LePage, Audrey (Jack Webb) and Leon Richardson.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews and devoted friend, Lauretta Borresch.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009 at Faith Lutheran Church in Morris. In lieu of flowers make a donation to the Stevens County Humane Society.
