Eden Valley woman faces two felonies in fatal motorcycle crash
WILLMAR -- Sarah Lynn Klein, 30, of Eden Valley made her first court appearance Monday on criminal vehicular homicide charges for a Saturday motor vehicle crash that killed two Spicer residents.
Unconditional bail was set at $200,000 in Meeker County District Court. Klein's next appearance is Aug. 19.
James R. Nelson, 50, and Amy J. Langford, 43, were killed when the 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle Nelson was driving was struck from behind by a 2005 Chevy van driven by Klein. The crash happened around 4:20 p.m. Saturday along State Highway 55 in Eden Valley.
Klein was arrested by a Minnesota State Patrol trooper after she failed field sobriety tests and submitted to a preliminary breath test, which showed an alcohol concentration of 0.188. According to the criminal complaint, she was taken by the trooper to Paynesville Area Hospital where a blood sample was taken.
According to the complaint, both victims were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Klein allegedly admitted to driving the van and that she was coming from Eden Valley, tried to avoid the bike and was not sure if she had hit them.
