Eastley to retire from Chamber
A fixture of the Alexandria Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce is calling it a career. Ginny Eastley, who's worked in various capacities there since the spring of 1995, is retiring at the end of April.
Eastley began as the Chamber's receptionist and was the long-time editor of the Horizons newsletter. She's handled the Weekly Business Outlook and played a vital role in events like Awake the Lakes, the Chamber Annual Celebration, Duffers Delight and Vikingland Band Festival.
Instead of working at the events, she plans to spend her retirement enjoying them.
"I've just enjoyed my job tremendously over the years," Eastley said. "I've had the opportunity to meet a lot of great people from the business community, as well as visitors coming to the Alexandria Lakes Area."
She figures she'll miss working at the Chamber, but she has plenty of activities to occupy her time. Visiting her grandchildren and traveling are high on her list, as are gardening, reading, biking and going for walks.
"I'm just going to enjoy life - just be on vacation full-time," Eastley said.
The Chamber is planning a retirement open house for her and invites people to drop by and wish her well. It will be on her last day - Thursday, April 29 - and run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Refreshments will be served throughout the day.
