Drown earns Hobey Baker Award for Alex

Alexandria senior Melissa Drown was named the recipient of the 2014 Hobey Baker Award of Excellence for the Cardinals girls’ hockey team.

Each Minnesota high school coach chooses one player from their team that will receive this award. It goes to recognize athletes in hockey who demonstrate character, commitment, teamwork, persistence, selflessness, academic excellence and sportsmanship.

Drown was a captain and leading scorer on this year’s state tournament team for the Cardinals. She is also active in plenty of activities off the ice. They include: the 212 Leadership Team, Student Council vice president, Coronation Committee head, orchestra, the National Honor Society, “A” Club president, Midwinter Committee head and the 4H Liberty Livewires Club where she served as the president in 2013.
