Douglas County gets $8,700 election grant for equipment
Secretary of State Mark Ritchie reported Wednesday that Douglas County received an $8,700 election grant.
The Legislature authorized these grants to provide counties with additional funding for operating and maintaining election equipment.
Counties may use the grant to pay for actual county and municipal costs for election equipment maintenance, Election Day technical support, software licensing, system programming, voting system testing, training of county or municipal staff in the use of voting equipment, and transportation and storage of the voting equipment.
"We were pleased to be able to fully fund all of these grants," said Ritchie. "These funds should help counties defray costs, which is especially important in lean budget times.
