Funeral services for Dorothy Bell Moore Rhode of Morris and Herman will be held Thursday, March 5, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris. AiM Beverly McNeill will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be at Summit Cemetery in Morris.

Dorothy Bell Moore, daughter of Frank and Annie (Swanson) Moore, was born April 6, 1920 in Rendsville Township, in Stevens County, Minnesota. Dorothy graduated from Morris High School and continued her education at St Cloud State in St. Cloud, Minnesota for two years, receiving her teaching degree. Following her schooling, she taught for nearly 40 years in rural schools near Herman, Donnelly, Norcross and Morris. On June 14, 1942, she was united in marriage to Roger Rhode. To this union, one son was born, Edward Moore Rhode, born in 1949. The couple farmed near Herman until 1953, when they moved into Herman. They moved to the Morris area in 1968. Roger died on January 24, 1989. Dorothy's interests included crocheting and knitting. She especially enjoyed reading and gardening.

Dorothy died on Sunday, March 1, 2009 at West Wind Village in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 88 yeas.

She is survived by her granddaughter: Jacqueline Rhode of Ft. Thompson, SD; two nephews: Maynard Koehntop of Morris and Darrel (Jeanette) Koehntop of Morris and her good friends: Beverly and John McNeill of Morris. She was preceded in death by her husband; her son: Edward Rhode; her parents and sister: Lucille Koehntop (Mrs. Emil).

Pallbearers for the service are: Maynard Koehntop, Darrel Koehntop, Steve Sauter, John McNeill, Gary McNeill and Roger Koehntop. Honorary pallbearers for the service are: Janet Sauter, Pat Proudfoot, Edell Swanson, Gladys Helberg, Darline Wente and Alice Rahn. Rita Lambert will be serving as organist for the service with Deb Alberts serving as soloist. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
