Donate new books to be given to local children
The Alexandria Area Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and Community Education District 206 are sponsoring Project Bookshelf.
New children’s books will be collected and redistributed through the local Jingle Bells program.
The public is invited to donate a book for a child who may not get one this holiday season.
New books can be placed in baskets at the following Alexandria locations: Book World, Cherry Street Books, Douglas County Library, Alexandria Technical and Community College, and the Community Education office.
Books are needed by Wednesday, December 4 . They will be sorted by reading level and given to Jingle Bells for distribution.
Donations of money to Project Bookshelf are also appreciated, as they enable AAUW to purchase appropriate books in quantity at a discount.
To make a financial contribution, drop it off at Community Education, 1410 South McKay Avenue, or mail it to P.O. Box 308, Alexandria, MN 56308 by Wednesday, December 4.
