Dona Mae Yager, 87
Dona Mae Yager, 87, Alexandria, died February 4, 2014 in her home with her family around her.
Dona Mae was born in Alexandria on October 28, 1926, the daughter of Skinner and Lillian (Hasbrook) Engstrom. She attended school in Alexandria and then went on to beauty school in Minneapolis. She then met and married James T. Yager in 1947 and together they raised seven children, James T. (Dawn), Calvin "Smorg" Leroy, Dale Eugene, Kathy True (Ray), Robyn Elisabeth, Debra Anderson (Stanley), and Paula McGregor.
Dona Mae worked at Herbergers Department Store, from which she retired after 25 years. She remained active in her retirement by working part-time for the school district, volunteering at the hospital, and working and volunteering at the VFW where she was an active member for 60 years.
Dona devoted her life to taking care of her family. Family was everything to her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James T. Yager; daughter, Robyn; son, Smorg; and her mother and father.
She will be sadly missed by her family.
A memorial service was held for Dona Mae on February 13 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria.
