Dayton suspends sex offender releases

ST. PAUL — Minnesota sex offenders who remain locked up after their prison terms end are supposed to have a chance to go free, but last Wednesday, Governor Mark Dayton snuffed out that hope until he and legislators can agree on a new process.

He said political reaction to the potential release of a man convicted in three sex crimes persuaded him to end sex offender releases.
