Dancers first at Melrose quad
The Alexandria dance team finished first in the jazz and kick competitions at the Melrose quadrangular on Monday night.
The kick team beat Melrose by 40 points as Fergus Falls placed third and Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa finished fourth.
“After a strong showing at the Rocori Invite on Saturday, the team’s confidence level was high,” head coach Christine Reilly said. “They had a better performance with fewer mistakes. The jazz team also had a stronger performance and beat Melrose by 28 points.”
Fergus Falls came in third in the jazz competition. It was a step in the right direction for the jazz team after very close scores with Melrose and Fergus Falls in competitions earlier this season.
“The team’s goal was to win and widen the gap in scores, and they succeeded,” Reilly said.
