Dance the winter away

The Winter Dance Club announces its fifth season of dancing at the Lakeside Ballroom in Glenwood. The season includes one Saturday night and seven Sunday afternoon dances from October to May.

The Winter Dance Club was formed to bring year round ballroom dancing to the area. Dances are sponsored by the Lakeside Dance Club. Members pay one fee for all the scheduled dances. The public is welcome to attend the dances as well.

A membership drive continues throughout October. Memberships are $75 per couple for eight dances. Guests attending for a single dance pay $20 per couple. The $20 can be applied toward membership.

Lessons will be offered at some of the dances. The dress code states that no jeans or shorts are allowed.

Following is the schedule of dances:

• Sunday, October 24, 3 to 7 p.m. - Duffy Morton's Velvet Brass.

• Saturday, November 20, 7 to 11 p.m. - Julie Lee and White Rose Band.

• Sunday, December 5, 3 to 7 p.m. - Doc's All Stars.

• Sunday, February 13, 3 to 7 p.m. - Velvet Brass.

• Sunday, March 13, 3 to 7 p.m. - Christine Rosholt Quintet.

• Sunday, March 27, 3 to 7 p.m. - Julie Lee and White Rose Band.

• Sunday, April 17, 3 to 7 p.m. - Duffy Morton's Velvet Brass.

• Sunday, May 1, 3 to 7 p.m. - Sammy Jensen Orchestra.
