Dance finishes eighth in CLC

The Alexandria dance team felt it did not produce one of the season’s best performances in an eighth place finish overall at the Central Lakes Conference dance meet Friday at Rocori High School.

Although they were not at their best, head coach Christine Reilly was still happy with the Cardinals’ competitive spirit.

“All three CLC meets were a bit of a struggle for the team, and they certainly did not have the best performances at those meets,” head coach Christine Reilly said. “Despite costly errors, the team did push hard in each performance and I was proud of them for being true competitors and not giving up part of the way through.”

St. Cloud Tech and Brainerd tied for first place at the meet and Sartell finished in third place.

The Alexandria dancers finished with some individual recognition at the meet as well. Emily Haan and Samantha Winther earned all-conference in the kick division, and Alexis Kokett and McKenzie Stark finished all-conference honorable mention. In the jazz division, Kokett earned all-conference, and Winther and Stark received all-conference honorable mention awards.

Next competition for the Cardinals is the section finals on Saturday, February 1 at Sauk Rapids-Rice High School.
